Risk Management Solutions

  • Credit and liquidity risk assessment

Background - Industrial manufacturing company experienced flat sales growth and rising cost of raw materials that created cash flow and credit challenges for the company. Managers financed operations and plant investment with multiple term and working capital debt instruments that collectively were an inefficient match to operations and cash flow.

Solution - Identified opportunities to improve liquidity and credit risks in the current state through analyses of operations, cash flow and debt service requirements, and an understanding of management's business strategy. Developed a debt restructuring plan to lower costs and improve cash flow, and to remove, or modify, the onerous terms in the multiple debt agreements. The project also included analyses and inquiries that identified other operational and management improvements to reduce costs through more efficient utilization of company resources.

  • Control risk assessment

Background - Technology company wanted to assess control risks over certain development processes.

Solution - Identified and reviewed the systems, processes, procedures and related controls of the identified development areas, and recommended opportunities to improve the current state processes and strengthen the control environment.

  • Contract compliance

Background - Professional service company with franchise operations wanted to evaluate contract compliance of franchisees.

Solution - Identified the objectives, plans and strategy of the company and the nature, purpose and role of franchise operations, including the contractual relationships, reporting, measurement and evaluation systems, and processes of the franchise operations. Reviewed franchisee and corporate compliance to the terms of the agreements, and identified and quantified events of noncompliance. Recommended modifications to the franchise contracts to add clarity to the business objectives of the franchise program, and the relationship of the company and the franchisees. Systematic changes were also recommended to improve the nature and timing of reporting and compliance oversight and accountability of franchisees and company managers.
